July - Preserving the Summer Bounty

Introduction

I’ve found that an easy (or easy-ish) way of keeping my grocery budget manageable is to eat seasonally…but sometimes, I’d like something summery in the middle of winter.

Finding ways to store the summer loveliness has become a bit of a hobby of mine. I’ve decided that I’m going to take my canning/storing techniques up a notch this summer because it feels good to eat food I’ve canned, and I’m a little worried about food prices come the fall and winter (due to a shortage of farm workers).

Some years, all I did was freeze some berries and tomatoes…and that worked really well. Other years I’ve hosted canning parties where we’ve canned piles of tomatoes and made homemade tomato sauce. Some years I have more time and enthusiasm for it :).

This masterclass is a guide to storing fruits, berries, and veggies. If you’re an avid canner or fermenter and would like to add your wisdom to this masterclass, please don’t hesitate to email me :).
