Bone Broth

Bone broth is an amazing base to soup…and so much more.

This is an amazing gut healer. It’s full of gelatine and collagen that coats our gut lining and heals the cells. It’s also nutrient-rich and helps the immune system.

This section is in 3 videos - an overview, an in-depth look at how to make it, and a visual account of the making of process. Scott’s method will make a KILLER bone broth…but it’s not the only way.

I usually make broth with the carcass of a chicken after I’ve enjoyed it. This will make good broth too…but it won’t be as full of gelatine and collagen as Scott’s version. But, it will be mineral rich and good for the immune system. Here’s a link to my recipe if you’d like to try it out first :)

Now onto Scott’s STELLAR version :). There’s a button at the bottom to get his full recipe.

Bone Broth Video #1

This overview of bone broth and why it’s so amazing for us includes:

  • Why make bone broth

  • How to find good bones

  • Why it’s important to roast the bones first

  • How to get the most out of your bones

  • How to put together your broth

Bone Broth Video #2

This is a great overview of the entire process…and includes some great info on Apple Cider Vinegar and it’s health benefits outside of using it for broth.

Bone Broth Video #3

Take a look at what his pile of bones looks like pre- and post-roasting, as well as the broth all cozy in its pot.

The next two sections are 2 of the many ways to use your gorgeous, health-enhancing bone broth :). And don’t forget to download the recipe :)

Miso Ramen Broth

I LOVE a delicious noodle soup and this one looks AMAZING! Watch how Scott simmers together a few ingredients to make a great soup. Grab his recipe by clicking on the button below.

A note re: kombu - if you’ve never cooked with seaweed, this is a great place to start. You can throw kombu into any soup, stew, or cooking grain and while it simmers it drops all of its nutrients (it’s super high in iodine). It leaves a salty umami flavour to the water, and then you throw away the rest of the cooked stick of kombu! It’s all the health benefits of seaweed…without having to actually eat it :)

A basic soup

In this video Scott show us how to put together the ingredients for a basic (and delicious) soup. He takes us through the ingredients in the flavour base for a lot of cooking :)

Next - learn how to throw together some great dinners! Head over to Part 4!
